Ideal Vacuum Cube 6 x 6 Vacuum Chamber Plate for 1.0 in. Standard Optical Window.
These Ideal Vacuum Cube 6 x 6 inch vacuum chamber plates are built to accommodate 1.0 inch diameter optics (sold separately and not included with this item). With the addition of a specific optic, the entire plate effectively becomes an inexpensive and conveniently demountable viewport, quickly and easily swapped for a different viewport/plate combination. These plates use a series of Viton O-ring gaskets, operate down to 10
-8 torr (10
-11 Pa), and have a max bakeout temperature of 150° C.
These viewport plates are designed to fit our 6 x 6 x 6 vacuum cubes (each cube require 6 plates). Plates are built with our patented Taper-Seal
TM technology which incorporates sloped sealing features to help prevent damage to the vacuum sealing surfaces.
Vacuum Cube plates are CNC milled from a single block of lightweight 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy. This is the sale of a Ideal Vacuum Cube 6 x 6 inch viewport plate only (other glass lenses, plates, frames, and hardware are required and are sold separately).

For 1.0" Diameter Optics,
- Clear Aperture: 0.7"
- Required continuous sealing surface from 0.8" to 1.0" diameter
- Max optic thickness: 0.45"
Usage Guidelines:
- The optic or blank must have a smooth, flat, continuous surface on the vacuum side from 0.8" to 1.0" diameter to seal against the inner O-ring and prevent leaks.
- There is no specified minimum optic thickness. Optic suitability must be determined by the user based on the material strength and vacuum characteristics of their process.
- The maximum optic thickness is 0.45" to allow sufficient thread engagement of the retaining ring. Optics thicker than 0.45" may be used without the retaining ring but must be held in place some other way (for example gravity if the optic was mounted facing down).
- The materials exposed to vacuum are bare 6061-T6 aluminum and durometer 70A and 75A Viton for the seals.
- The outer O-ring provides a smooth cushion between the retaining ring and the optic. It does not produce a vacuum seal.
- We do not recommend overtightening the retaining ring. Just enough force should be applied to keep the optic in place against the inner O-ring at amo. Once vacuum is applied, the differential pressure between the inside and outside of the chamber is sufficient to maintain a vacuum seal between the optic and the inner O-ring.
