Electrical Engineering - Product Development Position

Introduction:

Ideal Vacuum is looking for a skilled electrical engineer to join our engineering group. Our team is a small group of creative, versatile engineers who can apply their diverse skillsets to multiple aspects of product research, development, and manufacturing at Ideal Vacuum. A successful applicant for this position can demonstrate a strong background in electrical design, particularly with microcontrollers and embedded controls. Multidisciplinary skills such as 3D CAD or software engineering are highly beneficial. A successful applicant will have strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies in IoT, computing, and control systems.

Responsibilities:

After completing OJT (on-job training) and probationary period, an engineer at Ideal Vacuum is:

• Self-directed in assigned projects, with supervisor support
• A valuable contributing memberin the product development team
• Involved in multiple project phases from product defintion to product deployment
• Able to help improve design and manufacturing workflow in the company

Education/Knowledge

• B.S. Electrical Engineering
• 1+ year expereience in electrical design
• Microcontroller architecture
• Coding expereience using C language
• Schemdatic design, PCB layout software
• USB device protocol (preferred)
• SolidWorks CAD (preferred)
• Coding experience using VB.net (preferred)

Job Tasks

As a design team member at Ideal Vacuum, an electrical engineer is responsible to contribute to various ongoing projects in various stages of development as they are assigned. Engineers provide verbal or written progress reports to their supervisor on assigned projects. The following items are common work activities for an electrical engineer at Ideal Vacuum:

• Market evaluation and research into new products
• Conceptual design and product prototyping
• Product testing
• Creation of manufacturing drawings and documentation packages for production
• Writing product manuals and technical documentation
• Controller and circuit design for vacuum equipment
• Collaboration/interdisciplinary design for electronics packaging
• Electromechanical integration
• Reverse engineering

Package:

• $28-40/hr, depending on experience
